For church media teams

Find the moment. Cut the clip.

Refrain turns your years of recorded services into a library you can actually search — then cut for social. On your Mac.

See how it works · On-device · Nothing uploaded

Refrain running on a real Sunday service — one search surfaces every moment it was spoken, captioned, and shown on screen.

You have hundreds of hours of services. And no way to find that moment.

The guest speaker from two Easters ago. The worship set where you sang that song. The testimony everyone still talks about. It’s all there — buried in a folder of files nobody can search, scrubbed for by hand when someone needs a clip.

Transcription tools can find what was said. Refrain also finds who’s on screen and what’s on screen — the parts a transcript can’t.

How it works

Search three ways a transcript can’t.

01

Who’s on screen

Tag your regular speakers and worship leaders once. Refrain then finds every clip they appear in.

“Every moment Pastor Mike is on stage.”
02

What’s on screen

It reads the text in your lower-thirds — song titles, guest names, scripture references — and makes it searchable.

“The moment the screen showed ‘Great Are You Lord’.”
03

What was said

Full local transcription of every service, so you can find a testimony or a line by the words alone.

“That story about the mission trip.”

Find the moment, jump straight to it, and cut a clip for the recap reel or your socials — all in one place.

Private by design

Your services never leave the building.

Refrain runs entirely on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded, no account is required, and there’s no per-clip cloud bill. Unreleased sermons, pastoral moments, and members’ faces stay yours.

  • Runs 100% on-device — works offline
  • No uploads, no cloud account, no subscription tax
  • Your footage is indexed in place — never copied out
  • One-time price, not a per-hour meter
Straight with you

What Refrain is — and isn’t.

We’d rather you trust it than be surprised by it.

It’s great at

  • Searching your clips and recent services by face, on-screen text, and topic
  • Finding your regular speakers and worship leaders once you’ve tagged them
  • Reading clean on-screen text — song titles, name-supers, scripture
  • Keeping everything on your machine

It’s not

  • A tool for a petabyte broadcast archive — it’s built for a church’s library, one Mac at a time
  • A face-recognition service that names strangers — you tag the people you care about
  • A replacement for your catalog — it’s a fast way to find and clip, not authoritative metadata
  • Cloud AI — so it’s private, but sized to your collection

Questions

Good to know

Does it work on a whole 90-minute service?

It transcribes the full audio, so word search covers the entire service. For the visual search (faces, on-screen text), it focuses on the most active portion by default — ideal for clips and highlights. Working from your existing clip library gives the sharpest results; you can widen the visual coverage in settings when you need it.

Do I have to tag every person?

No — just the handful of people you actually search for (your pastors, worship leaders, recurring guests). Tag each once, and Refrain finds them from then on.

Is my footage sent anywhere?

Never. Refrain runs on your Mac, indexes your files in place, and requires no account or internet connection.

What do I need to run it?

A Mac and your service recordings in a folder (or on a drive it can reach). That’s it.
